That’s a wrap for the 2014 Junos! The awards telecast, which was broadcast from Winnipeg on Sunday night, celebrated some of the biggest acts in Canadian music over the past year. A few glass statues were even handed out (only six of 42 awards were presented during the live-to-air program).
Among the most buzz-worthy things that happened was the absence of big-name Canadian crooning talents (former hosts and 2014 nominees Drake and Michael Buble failed to show up), the cancellation of Robin Thicke’s performance (he’s, reportedly, on “mandatory vocal rest”) and the booing of Justin Bieber (who, it should also be noted, didn’t show up for the show).
But it wasn’t all bad news for the “Canadian Grammys.” Sarah McLachlan made her first public appearance in what seems like forever (and she looks amazing!), female musicians dominated the night (Tegan and Sara and Serena Ryder were the eve’s biggest winners) and Chris Hadfield crooned alongside BTO (Bachman-Turner Overdrive were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame).
Below, we’ve rounded up some of the best Tweets and bits of news from the night. Did you watch the show? Tweet us @iVillageCanada.
