Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed that his cancer has returned, which will force him to miss the start of the band’s upcoming tour.
“I’m saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned. However, I’m beyond consolation that its return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while,” Campbell writes. “I’m still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon.”
A band rep says that Campbell is only expected to miss the first few shows of the summer trek with Styx and Tesla, which kicks off June 23rd. Trixter guitarist Steve Brown will serve as Campbell’s temporary replacement, as he did previously when treatments forced Campbell to miss shows.
Campbell was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March 2013.
