Richie Sambora says he’s working on a series for HBO about “the toil, trials and tribulations” endured by a young rock band on its journey to the big time.
According to the former Bon Jovi guitarist, the idea developed after he rejected an offer to write his autobiography.
“It’s like, I don’t want to do that clichéd thing about who slept with who, what substance happened here, what was going on there,” Sambora explains. “I’m a Jersey guy, so I keep everything to the chest. I don’t want to talk about anybody anyway, right? Plus, I have a daughter … So I said, ‘Why don’t I write a teleplay?’”
Sambora adds that he declined the network’s offer to star in the show because “I don’t like acting that much” and “It wouldn’t leave me any time to do anything else.”
HBO has not confirmed anything about the project.
