From the outset of the election, Trump’s campaign ran on a perceived anger against Washington elites that saw him defeat several other high-profile Republicans during the primaries that included Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush.
Despite winning, in the final days of the campaign he continued to promote the unfounded allegation among his supporters the presidential election was “rigged” against him.
