Todd Kerns of Age of Electric joined us to cover “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid just in time for the holidays.
Merry Quizmas with Todd Kerns of The Age of Electric
What are your Christmas traditions?
“Just playing loud music with friends which is unique to anyone except someone like myself where loud music is very much the most natural thing in the world.”
Favourite Christmas memory?
“I played my first show ever on December 12th when I was 13 or 14. I was paid $60, which seemed like a fortune. I bought my family Christmas presents. I remember buying my brother, John, an AC/DC shirt.”
The best Christmas movie of all time?
Off the top of my head – Gremlins. Think about it. #2 – Die Hard
- Favourite: ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ by Slade, ‘Do They Know Its Christmas’ by Band Aid and the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version of ‘Little Drummer Boy.’
- Most hated: “Can’t think of any I dislike. Most people complain about the inundation of Christmas music around the holidays. I always get a kick out of it. Ask me on December 26th.”
What’s the #1 thing on your Christmas list?
“I’ll take a ’59 Les Paul but I think that’s wishful wishing.”
What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
“As a father the worst thing you receive is the bill for everyone else’s Christmas presents. It’s also the best thing.”
When do you do your Christmas shopping?
“I’m actually pretty on top of it. I try to avoid the madness of Christmas shopping so I try to get way ahead of the curve. That said one still tends to find oneself in the thick of it on December 24th.”
Are you on the naughty or nice list this year?
“I think I’d find myself on both lists for conflicting behaviours but wouldn’t we all? Too philosophical an answer, perhaps? Answering questions with questions is the height of naughty behaviour.”
A Christmas greeting to all Canadians:
“Dear Canada, I have lived in the desert of the American south west for the past ten years but all the Christmases of my youth were spent in the coldest corners of the Great White North. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I tend to return every year to relive that very experience and the country of my birth never disappoints.
May this Holiday season be your best ever and may 2017 be your best year ever!”
