Wintersleep stopped in to record this nostalgic song from A Charlie Brown Christmas. Listen to “Christmas Time Is Here” and reminisce with a nice cup of hot cocoa.
Merry Quizmas with Loel Campbell of Wintersleep
What are your Christmas traditions?
“More times than not getting home for Christmas usually involves barreling through some treacherous Canadian weather in hope of making it home to family in Nova Scotia in time for the big day… There has been both hits and misses. Oh, and in my home town of Stellarton… the fire hall dresses up one of its rigs and puts Santa on top blasting it’s siren through all the neighbourhoods in the town, all the kids (and me) going out to the road to great him, I think Santa has a fun time whipping candy canes at the kids (and me).”
Favourite Christmas memory?
“I used to get really excited for Santa to come to the house… I remember being absolutely convinced there were reindeer on the roof… That kind of wonder is pretty special… I long for it a little bit… Also finding a hidden Super Nintendo as a gift was also the best and worst. My mom had entered all these contests for them and she actually won one. That was the only way we could have gotten one. I felt terrible guilt from discovering it as well.
The best Christmas movie of all time?
“I’m a Home Alone guy.”
- Favourite: Peanuts Christmas…. ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’.
- Most hated: Not a big ‘Little Drummer Boy’ fan even though we covered it… tried to make a version we liked I suppose.
What’s the #1 thing on your Christmas list?
“Trump somehow getting denied the Presidency.”
What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
“My secret Santa gave me a book already in our curriculum in Grade 4, that was pretty lame… My teacher felt bad and gave me a Troll dressed like a wizard, that ruled.”
When do you do your Christmas shopping?
“Christmas eve, or early November.”
Christmas time favourites
- Decorations: “Big tinsel fan.”
- Treats: “Love, but cannot have, shortbread.”
- Scents: “I’ve been known to bury my face in an evergreen from time to time.”
- Drinks: Eggnog – “Red Needle, Negroni.”
Are you on the naughty or nice list this year?
A Christmas greeting to all Canadians:
“Happy Holidays everyone. Here’s hoping you are safe, warm, and have collected all your favourite company :)”
