We got pretty lucky, this St. Patrick’s Day: Adam Ricard from 102.1 The Edge got to sit down with alt-rap-rock-pop stars Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park.
The band visited the studio to talk about their upcoming album, One More Light share how it feels to be where they are right now and perform their latest single ‘Heavy.’

“We’re always trying to learn new ways to develop our craft” – Chester Bennington
Chester & Mike discuss having side projects outside of the band, their creative process and coming back to Linkin Park to embark on the next leg of their musical journey. They spoke candidly about their original benchmark for success – Chester saying that if they sold 12,000 copies of their debut album, Hybrid Theory, in the first week, that would mean they had ‘made it’ (the band sold over 47,000).
“We’re not evolving in a straight line. The band’s evolving, but we’re not evolving in terms of genre…” – Mike Shinoda
Mike addressed the band’s sound with the new album, mentioning “‘Heavy’ is on a bunch of Chill playlists, a bunch of Pop playlists and on a bunch of Alternative playlists. It doesn’t matter – we love lots of different types of music.”
