The hilarious husband-and-wife duo, Melissa McCarthy, 46, and Ben Falcone, 43, open up about their marriage while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday.
Being such a funny couple, one would think that it’s just laughs all the time, but the duo got real about what traits each other have that are so funny, “Ben is a bit… lovingly, you’re a bit of a super hypochondriac, major germaphobe and we may have seven or eight blood-pressure cuffs in our home,” McCarthy reveals.
Not only did the couple — married since 2005 — talk relationships, McCarthy shed some light on how her popular U.S. Press Secretary Sean Spicer impression on Saturday Night Live came about. “SNL called, they heard I was in New York. ‘Do you have any interest in coming in and doing Spicer for us?’ And I was like, ‘WHAT? How am I going to do that?’ Then cut to someone being like, ‘Boy, do you ever look like that guy… I was like ‘Wait a minute!’”
The couple even revealed their daughters, Vivian, 9, and Georgette, 7, were there to see her transformation. Their reaction? According to McCarthy, it was, “EEK! Yikes!” then revealed, “We took weird family pictures.”
Even DeGeneres had a little fun with the couple when she suggested, “I think that should be your Christmas card.”
And McCarthy immediately got on board: “I think it’s going to be.”
McCarthy confessed she really got into the Spicer transformation. “The prosthetics — the weirdest thing is that you mess with your ears and it really changes the shape of your head. And then I really got into it and asked, ‘Can I have eye bags?’ And the answer was, ‘Yes!’”
Falcone, on the other hand, wasn’t as enthusiastic as his wife, saying that perhaps “sexy” wasn’t the word he would use to describe his wife in full make-up; his reaction was more in line with those of his daughters.
Let’s just hope McCarthy makes another appearance as Spicer when “SNL” returns April 15 on Global.
