There’s dedication, and then there’s break-your-foot-in-in-the-middle-of-a-concert-and-keep-on-singing dedication, which is what Deftones front man Chino Moreno displayed during a recent gig in Belgium.
Performing at Belgium’s Groezrock festival, Moreno climbed onto a monitor and leapt off, reports NME, taking a rough landing that resulted in a fractured foot.
As the band continued to rage on, Moreno finally emerged and continued the song, and reportedly kept on performing the remainder of the band’s set — even after falling over while trying to put his weight on his busted foot.
Moreno’s injury forced the band to cancel a concert in Koln, Germany, but Deftones took to social media to let fans know the rest of their upcoming slate of shows (including dates in London, Manchester and Glasgow) will take place as planned.
“Hey Koln,” Deftones wrote on the band’s Facebook page. “Regretfully, we have to cancel our show tonight due to Chino breaking the top of his foot. He needs to stay off it for the next day or two. No other shows as of now are in jeopardy of being cancelled. We hope to make it back soon to perform for you again. In the meantime, all tickets will be refunded. Thanks for your understanding. Deftones.”
