Fans of Avril Lavigne have some amazing news to celebrate now that the Canadian rocker has revealed she’s headed back into the studio to record an upcoming album.
Lavigne hasn’t released a new album since the self-titled Avril Lavigne in 2013, so it’s a no-brainer that fans will be eagerly anticipating her upcoming work.
Sharing the info via Twitter, the Sk8tr Boi singer didn’t offer a lot of details, but declared: “Beginning production this week for the album. Wahoo. Pouring my heart & soul into writing these new songs for you guys. Can’t wait !!!!”

The last few years have seen Lavigne consumed with battling Lyme disease as well as getting married to (and then divorced from) Nickelback front man Chad Kroger. She emerged in December 2016 to reveal plans for a new album to be released sometime in 2017.
“I’m really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “I can’t wait to open up and share my heart with you! I’m excited for you guys to hear the new songs. It’s going to be an amazing 2017!”
Hi Everyone!! I wanted to first thank my fans for your patience & support during my time away throughout my battle with Lyme Disease over the past 2 years. It hasn't just been a hard battle but it's also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally. I will always continue to make it a priority to fight and raise awareness about Lyme Disease with the Avril Lavigne foundation. I'm really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017. I can't wait to open up and share my heart with you! I'm excited for you guys to hear the new songs. It's going to be an amazing 2017!
Meanwhile, it’s been a weird week for the Belleville, Ontario native, who found herself the victim of a bizarre death hoax/conspiracy theory that claimed she died several years ago, but is being impersonated by a lookalike.
In fact, Rolling Stone reports that the rumour actually dates back to 2003, when a spurious rumour started claiming Lavigne committed suicide after her grandfather’s death. With her fame on the rise, goes the completely fake story, her record company decided to keep the gravy train going by hiring a lookalike named Melissa Vandella to pretend to be Lavigne.
Hilariously, the reason the long-in-the-tooth hoax appears to have resurfaced has to do with a 2011 blog post from Brazil, which was intended as a cautionary tale on how to make a fake conspiracy theory appear to be true, but wound up spreading throughout the Internet like wildfire.
So, to recap: Lavigne is not dead, there’s no lookalike named Melissa, and the very-much-alive singer will be delivering a new album in the hopefully near future.
