The One Love Manchester benefit concert was a moment of unity for England.
During the concert, Liam Gallagher performed with Coldplay and the two sang the hit Oasis song, Live Forever. In the past, Gallagher has not had the nicest things to say about Chris Martin and his band but after the performance, he’s taken it all back.
“Chris Martin looks like a geography teacher. What’s all that with writing messages about Free Trade? If he wants to write things down I’ll give him a pen and a pad of paper. Bunch of students,” Gallagher told NME about the band in 2006.
Most recently, last year Gallagher poked fun at Martin’s look: “I’m sure he does put on a good gig, Chris Martin, the amount of money he gets paid. He looks like he’s in The Tweenies though. The whole band look beyond shit. Have they not seen any photos of The Rolling Stones? Probably not,” he shaded Martin.
Well, Gallagher is singing a different tune following One Love Manchester. After a performance in the Netherlands, Gallagher sat down for an interview with a Dutch radio station and only had praise for Martin and the band.
“They’ve never sounded so good have they, Coldplay? I was like, ‘F**king hell, you sound good man. I take back everything I’ve ever said about you. You sound f**king really good,’” he said.
He’s not worried about his rock ‘n’ roll credibility after their performance together, either. “I don’t mind. Listen, man. They’re all right man. Chris is cool.”
Does this mean Gallagher will appear on the next Coldplay record? One can only hope.
