Johnny Galecki’s ranch burned down on Monday night as a result of a fire in San Luis Obispo, California, a rep for the actor confirmed to ET Canada.
The Big Bang Theory star’s ranch, which is not his primary residence, was burned to the ground in a 1,200-acre fire. The ranch is 190 miles outside of Los Angeles.
Galecki said that his heart goes out to all of those impacted by the fire in a statement provided to CNN.
“My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile,” the actor said.
For Galecki, the area was a great community and he is hoping that he and others will be able to help rebuild it once the fire has cleared.
“It’s never the structures that create a community, it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild,” he continued.
He went on to thank CalFire and the Sheriff’s Office and is relieved no one has was hurt. “We’ve done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger,” he said.
On Tuesday evening, residents were told they could start returning to their homes, according to a press release from CAL FIRE and the San Luis Obispo Country Sheriff. Restrictions on nonresident travel to the area remained in the place, the release states.
