Thomas Schoettle was planning to see his favourite country performers, Zac Brown Band, live on July 14 in Camden, New Jersey. Sadly, in June he was in a terrible accident that left him paralyzed in hospital.
Learning of Schoettle’s condition and the fact that he couldn’t attend the concert, Zac Brown decided to pay a surprise visit to his teenage fan, the Daily Mail reported.
Brown visited Schoettle at Bryn Mawr Rehab Center in Pennsylvania where he’s recovering from a fractured neck and bruised spinal cord — injuries he got after a mishap at his friend’s backyard pool when he hit his head diving off the board.
“I figured, since you couldn’t come to us, we’d come see you,” Brown told Schoettle, to his utter shock, in a video posted to Facebook.
“I’ll be there next year. I was there the year before,” Schoettle said. “Oh my god, I can’t believe you guys are here. This is nuts.”
The band also brought Schoettle some tour gear since he couldn’t buy any at the concert.
The visit happened thanks to Schoettle’s family and friends, one of whom reached out to Brown on Facebook with the request.
And since Brown was in the area, he also managed to meet with some local firefighters.
There’s also a GoFundMe page set up to support Schoettle’s big medical bills for anyone wishing to help.
