Thanks to Paul and a house full of chickens, this season of Big Brother has been…. easy to predict. Paul says “let’s get this person out” house says “uhhh ya… whatever you want, Paul” and that person goes home. The two people who tried to make big moves (Jess and Cody) are gone… followed shortly by anyone unwilling to “bend the knee” to Paul, Elena and now Mark Jansen.
I got to ask Mark some questions on his way to the jury house, like why is EVERYONE so afraid to make a big move!?
“Because it’s hard to do. But as far as people making a big move with Paul they’re just so scared because the only thing people care about is the next week and keeping numbers. It’s part of the game, I can’t really blame them, it’s just a shame. If we had another alpha personality, it would have been a completely different summer. We just didn’t have enough big personalities in the house to get things done so people just want to play it safe.”
I also watched him with Julie last night admit he played a kinda terrible game… so I wanted to know, other than winning HOH (Head Of Household), what he would have liked to do differently.
“It’s not so much that I played a terrible game, it was just the worst case scenario happening for me… the way I positioned myself was beautiful, before Cody everything was setup nicely, after Cody I was able to get myself away from him. But then Jess won, we just had to win that following HOH, which we didn’t. So it’s not so much that I played a terrible game, it’s just I couldn’t win an HOH. My biggest regret though is turning my back on Dominique – I should have fought harder and tried to convince Jason and Alex not to put her up, I should have talked to her about staying quiet. When she left I knew I was in trouble – she’s the one who kept me level headed.”
You’ll notice Jess and Cody get brought up a lot, I asked Mark why everyone was so willing to back Paul and go against those two.
“I mean, Cody made a bold move and lied to Paul’s face in the beginning. I mean, you can’t lie to somebody’s face like that. Cody rubs people the wrong way just because of his demeanor. But me and Cody are the same… Cody expects everyone to have his back. But everyone wanted to play a nice game and take Paul’s side because they felt bad that Cody backstabbed him. When you’re in the Big Brother house, if someone has a big target on their back and you don’t have any big target on yours, you jump on it – the longer somebody has a target on their back, the longer you’re safe.”
Unless you’re watching Big Brother after dark (which I’m definitely guilty of) you only get to see a little bit of these strangers journey being locked in a house together. I asked Mark who the worst person to live with was.
“Josh, because you never know when he’s going to blow. We would have a heart-to-heart and five minutes later he would start an argument in front of the entire house. Or I would make a comment and he would freak out. Especially with me, he was just ready to fight.”
And finally… who absolutely does NOT deserve the $500,000?
“Matt and Raven, they have to be two of the most annoying people put together that I’ve ever been around. Just the voice and laughs and accents all put together, Matt and Raven, I don’t want them to go far, they don’t deserve it for game reasons. But I don’t want them in jury because I would really love some time without them, because they absolutely drove me crazy.”
