If you’re looking for a way to kill some time before the start of the long weekend, the newest Ongoing History podcast is available–and it’s a good one if I do say so myself. The title of this episode is The Ongoing History Book of Firsts–which is more or less just like it sounds.
I dig deep into music history to discover who was the first to do…something. Who was the first to bust out a guitar solo? What was the first song to fade out? Who got the first gold record? It’s tremendously fun trivia, which will make for perfect listening if you’re driving somewhere for Thanksgiving this weekend.
A couple of other things:
- Technical producer Rob Johnston has spent the last couple of weeks adding bonus episodes. We promised that we’d go back into the archives and convert radio shows into podcasts and we’re following through. There should be around 50 podcasts available for free downloads. (If you’re a subscriber, you’d know that by now. If you’re not, well, you know what to do now, right?)
- And thanks to everyone who has supported this endeavor. We set a download record for September and we’re over half a million in total downloads so far. Onward and upward, eh?
